We'll start with basic manners, then take your dog's training to a higher level by adding/strengthening formal commands (heel, place, come, stay, etc.). Your dog will work around distractions and in public locations to teach them to be a well-behaved member of society!

Private lesson clients must be willing to follow training guidelines and put in consistent daily effort to work with their dog outside of lessons.
If this sounds like you, schedule your first lesson and we'll get a plan in motion!
Lessons are $80/hour.
Location can be: client's home, public location, or trainer's property.
Why a Board & Train?
Training a dog takes a lot of time, patience, and many successful repetitions. Which is why board & train programs are so great! The trainer does the initial work to teach your dog the behavior, then teaches YOU how to maintain and build upon that training when your dog goes home.
Think of it this way:
You want to learn a new skill.
You can either learn from:
- A professor who knows the skill by heart,
or
- Someone who is also learning the same skill you're trying to learn.
That 2nd option would probably be frustrating, yeah?
Your dog would think so.
Trainers know what they're doing and can clearly communicate expectations to your dog, making learning faster and more enjoyable!
A Day in the Life:
I keep low numbers of client dogs, which means every dog in my care gets plenty of personal attention from me!
What does a typical day include for a board & train?
- Several 'formal' training sessions
- 'Informal' training throughout the day
- Group playtime (if they're social with other dogs)
- Puzzles & mental enrichment
- Individual time with me doing something the dog enjoys (fetch, tug, cuddles, etc.)
- Quiet time in their crate with bully sticks or stuffed kongs
- Soothing classical music during quiet time
- Sniffari walks to the back of the property
- Depending on weather and your dog's progress, we may go for lake play, hiking, or kayaking adventures too!

In the Manners Program, we work on:
- Walking on a leash without pulling: so you can enjoy walking the dog more, which means they'll get more exercise (leading to overall calmer behavior!)

- Learning to come when called
- How to be calm in the crate even when there are other things going on
- No counter surfing: don't sacrifice the Thanksgiving turkey...again
- No darting out open doors, because nobody wants to chase their dog down the street in their pajamas!
- No mouthing or inappropriate play biting

- 10 Day board & train stay to give your dog's training a big jumpstart!
- Owner training session on pick up day to show you what your dog has learned and teach you how to maintain & build on that training at home.
- Two follow-up training sessions. One-on-one help to ensure the training transfers smoothly over to you.
- New slip lead
- Bath and nail trim before your dog goes home. Leave the mud, take the mutt! :)

We'll start with basic manners, then take your dog's training to a higher level by adding/strengthening formal commands and working around added distractions and in public locations. There will be a strong focus on teaching obedience commands that are not only useful on a daily basis, but could save your dog's life one day!
The Obedience Program includes everything in the Manners Program PLUS:
- Upgrade to a four week board & train stay to teach your dog the necessary skills and behaviors. This takes all the initial work off your hands and means faster, more reliable results!
- NEW! Optional: owner training session halfway through the board & train stay
- Heel: your dog will walk nicely next to you without pulling and sit automatically when you stop. No more shoulder injuries for you!
- Place: send your dog to their bed when you're eating dinner or welcoming guests
- Come: know your dog will come back to you when you call them
- Other commands: Sit, down, stay, okay, drop it, leave it
- Working around distractions such as other dogs, people, food, toys, etc. which means they'll listen regardless of what else is going on around you
- Working in various public locations so your dog knows they have to behave everywhere
- Body handling: getting them comfortable with their ears, feet, mouth, & tail touched/examined and used to light body restraints they will encounter at the vet's office or groomer. Muzzle acclimation available by request.
